Rearranging your office space to create a positive energy

Feng Shui- We’ve all heard of it, seen it, read about it and even tried it! The question is… have you tried it at the office? Why not? You spend most of your day there anyway, some will even go as far as calling it their second home! In any case creating a positive energy will not only improve your productivity but it can also help make your time at the office less stressful and more enjoyable.
Here is a general list of tips on how to make your space, whether a cubicle or that enormous office everyone is jealous of, work for you.

1. Start by standing back and looking at your space, you can even take a picture of it if that helps. Then ask yourself, Where is my focal point? What is behind me? Do I have clutter around me or does it feel like I have clutter around me? …Chances are if you feel it, then you do! How’s the lighting in here? What about the color pallet?
Now, it might seem like too many questions at first and besides who has time for all that right? Wrong! This will only take a few minutes of your time, you can do it.

2. Focus on that focal point! It’s where you spend the majority of your time facing. Try placing an air purifying plant, a lucky bamboo, a photo of something that brings you good memories or an art piece with vibrant “happy” colors.

3. Have a strong backing. Know what is behind you and make it work for you. Good Feng Shui suggests you always know what is happening behind you. If your back is to the door or entrance, try placing something shiny that can reflect movement and light from behind you. Again try an air purifying plant, not only will this give off good energy and good air, but you will know exactly what is behind you at all times. Remember, the point of a strong backing is to feel protected at all times.

4. Try to keep everything organized. Too much clutter will automatically drain your energy just by looking at it. If you organize your area and find a home for everything you have, you will have a more consistent flow of energy around you.

5. Create good lighting. If you have no natural light in your office, try to create it by using a few levels of lighting and adding feng shui colors to your space. Good feng shui colors are those that resemble the feng shui elements: wood, water, metal, earth and fire.

Keep in mind that good Feng Shui does not mean over doing it and it also does not mean you must go shopping today because you need that positive energy flowing tomorrow morning, make it a natural process! Take your time, slowly rearrange your area to create the energy you need and want.
